You Asked, We Answered: Your Travel & Tourism Community Stories Hub

Last week we held our first community Zoom call, with 200+ in attendance! This turned out to be part “brainstorming session” and part “group therapy”, but one key takeaway for us at CrowdRiff was this:

What people want most right now is stories from peers.

At CrowdRiff, we’re fortunate to hear these stories on a daily (or more accurately, hourly) basis. We’ve heard stories from DMOs like Visit Florida communicating up-to-date health data to their community on landing pages and social media posts. 

Attractions like the Monterey Bay Aquarium launching daily guided meditations on Instagram. 


Choose Chicago, creating an interactive website that connects you to local things like virtual tours of museums, and restaurant delivery options.

There’s no shortage of creativity either, with marketers sharing Spotify playlists to promote their local artists, hosting Instagram Live cooking classes promoting local restaurants, and creating virtual greenscreen backgrounds for people video conferencing at home (in fact, we adopted this idea ourselves).

Our weekly roundups, released every Monday, were a great place for us to share these stories, but frankly, we were overwhelmed by so many ideas and didn’t want anything to get lost.

So, today we are excited to share our new Community Stories hub, a curated resource to help you easily find examples from around our industry of how travel brands are responding to COVID-19. 

This resource will connect you to examples of how DMOs and local attractions are using social media, their website, virtual events, and more to engage their community. We hope these examples can seed new ideas and new approaches. 

We also want to make it easy for you to submit any new ideas you have come across (or have created yourself!). Submit your link, whether it’s an Instagram post, a website, a video, or whatever you have available, and we will share it with the community.

At CrowdRiff, our number one objective right now is to support our community during these unique times. We hope you’ll find this valuable, and please share with anyone you think could use a dose of inspiration to their day.
