When Jackie Phommahaxay joined Visit Amarillo as Marketing Manager, she knew she’d be wearing a lot of hats. With a small but mighty team of ten, she’s spent the past three years helping tell the story of this Texas Panhandle gem.
“I love getting to highlight the places and people that make Amarillo special and worth visiting,” Jackie says. “It’s great knowing that we’re doing something to make Amarillo a better place.”
But telling those stories—and keeping all the visuals that go with them organized—was no small feat.
Finding a System that Saves Time
In the early days, managing media requests and organizing content were constant challenges.
“I used to have to create new folders, download and re-download content—it always became a huge headache,” Jackie recalls.
That all changed in 2022 when the team adopted CrowdRiff’s digital asset management (DAM) system. Suddenly, locating the right content wasn’t a scramble—it was just a quick search away.
“It has saved us so much time,” says Jackie. “It’s also easy to find content across all departments when they need photos.”
🔥 Pro tip from Jackie:Tag your photos when uploading! Your future self will thank you.

Collecting the Sights and Stories of Amarillo
Capturing the genuine local flavor is a key part of Visit Amarillo’s content approach. To capture those everyday moments, sunset-lit streets, lively rodeo scenes, and snapshots from community events, Jackie uses the CrowdRiff Collector feature.
“We use CrowdRiff to run photo contests like our Coors Cowboy Club Cattle Drive & Parade Photo Contest,” she explains. “It’s so easy and user-friendly for our participants.”
Collector gives participants a simple way to submit photos, and it gives Jackie’s team access to a goldmine of content they might not have found otherwise.
🔥 Pro tip from Jackie: Photo contests are a great way to engage your community and fill your content library at the same time.

Turning Photos into Visitor Inspiration with Galleries
Whether it’s a major event like the upcoming Texas Route 66 Festival or a blog post about must-see spots in town, Jackie turns to CrowdRiff Galleries to add visual impact.
“I personally love using galleries on our website and blog,” she says. “It saves me so much time from having to upload photos to our website manually (which takes forever!).”
From highlighting local attractions to rounding out travel guides, galleries help her keep content fresh, visual, and rooted in real visitor experiences, without the extra work.
🔥 Pro tip from Jackie: You can add or remove photos from a gallery in the CrowdRiff platform without ever having to touch the webpage itself. It’s a huge time-saver and keeps our content feeling up-to-date.

Telling Amarillo’s Story, Made Easy
With tools that simplify everything—from organizing their media library to collecting user-generated content (UGC)—Jackie and the Visit Amarillo team are able to show off the city’s charm without getting bogged down in busywork.
“CrowdRiff is super easy to use and seamless. The customer service has been great too!”
